Regarding clay -

I have great luck with the red Mexican clay in all the
catalogs. We make coil pots and cartouches with our
names "in" heiroglyphs and Ionic columns and
gargoyles. It polishes nicely with the stones that are
for putting in flower vases. One baseball-sized wad
per kid per project has been fine.
