Re: [teacherartexchange] Advice Please...rowdy kids

Date: Thu Aug 18 2005 - 16:04:50 PDT

This seems to work with my elementary kids but not with the middle school
kids. I've tried it, and I would literally spend the whole hour watching them
because several of them simply don't get it. There are so many students that
they can't hear anything but themselves. Even those who notice me and start
shushing the class have no effect. They are in their own worlds. If I stand
behind someone who is talking, or a group, they will stop, but the group behind
me will start up even though they know I want quiet. I think they really just
don't have self-control. It's like when they reach in the supply basket even
AS I'm saying, "Do not touch the supplies until I say so." They still reach
in and then realize they aren' t supposed to, and some still have trouble
taking their hands away.
