[teacherartexchange] wanted: art breakers...

Date: Mon Aug 15 2005 - 05:53:15 PDT

hello teacher art exchange list....

I have not been active on the list most of the summer, I somehow managed
to finish 6 credits torwards my MEd. before my mothers illness escalted,
she was bedridden by mid july and passed last weekend.

Mom was a fiercly intelligent and independant woman, the worst part was
seeing her loose her congnacance (no spellcheck on my web based email)

I am still in NY packing up her things, and will arrive in Colorado with
48 hours to get my room ready (post summer construction and cleaning)
prior to kids arriving on Monday (school starts early in Colorado).

I am planning a "Brush Camp" for the first week of school - (simialr to
boot camp but differnt:art room survial stuff) - how to clean brushes so
Ms. Leah won't squak too loudly...

I will break it up with "getting to know you" stuff - and i would like to
throw in some "art breakers" art realted games and mini projects, an
example of the kind of thing I am looking for is, where one person draws
a nose, you pass it and the next person adds the eyes... when your done,
you have a really silly face- or, squigglies on a blank piece of paper,
that they have to turn into SOMETHING...

If any of you have any similar "creativity starters" I am at a stage
where I will shamlessly borrow anything from anyone - just to get
throught this first week - I am trying to avoid taking a leave from
teaching, althouguh I am considering not taking any credits

Any assitance would be most appreicated, on or off list = PLEASE forgive
mytyping/spelling, I cannot get my laptop on line and can only access my
e-mail via a web browser on moms ancient gateway, with no spell check and
itty bitty letters.

 - Leah from Colorado
 - presently in Freeport NY, missing my mountians in a major
