[teacherartexchange] Decisions, decisions...

Hi, once again! Class begins tomorrow. I'm not prepared!!! Anyway, I'm
working on my syllabus. I think I need to create at least two different ones
because I have all grades K-8. For 5-8, I am planning on having the students
keep sketchbooks and portfolios, but I'm not sure about the K-4. What do you
guys think? Should I at least have the 1-4 keep portfolios? Do you think they
could benefit from sketchbooks? I figure the kindergartners will be too little
for either. I am also asking the older kids to write little reflective
essays on their art projects. I am required to include writing in my class. At
what ages do you think I should start requiring this? First grade? Second
grade and up? This is so overwhelming! Thanks.
