Re: Point System for GOOD behavior & work

Date: Sun Aug 29 2004 - 14:42:00 PDT

Jill, our third grade teachers (classroom) have a marble system that
follows the kids throughout the day. They keep a marble jar in their
room. If they have a good day in a specials class, the specials teacher
puts a check in the book that follows them around and they get a marble
in their jar. After they fill their jar they get something special like
an extra recess, I think. Point being that we are working together to
keep them accountable throughout their day. For some reason, the last
two years of 3rd graders have been exceptionally hyper. They started
this last year because we were ALL having so much trouble getting them
to listen and follow directions. It worked pretty well. I also keep a
guest book in my room that I mentioned the other day, as well as using
Judy's trick of putting the letters ART on the board....first time they
are too loud the T goes. next time they are too loud the R goes. If
they are too loud again, they stop what they are doing and put their
heads down. So far it's working GREAT! They freak out when I take off
a T!!! Love it. Hope this helps.
