What does your teaching contract say about # of hours of instruction per day?
What does your state recommend about #of minutes per week Students are
supposed to have art instruction? In your district what do other art teachers'
schedules look like? Scheduling is part art/part science. However it is often
the art, music and pe teachers who get the crummiest schedules. I make myself
a scheduling pain in then neck! I write tons of guidelines in the spring!
Talk about what was good, what was bad, ways to make the schedule better, for
the students and for me.

I am lucky, now I have 2 principals who care about my schedule and what I do
with the children. However, have been in schools where I have had 4 hours in
a row, no break, then travel to another school where I have 2 hours. Actually
against contract, but I did it to keep the peace with the other teacher I was
working with. Sometimes you have to know when to bend (not very often) and
when to be a pain in the tail!!! (more often!)

good luck!
