choice based classroom

Date: Mon Aug 09 2004 - 18:07:48 PDT

Hello to all and to Kathy specifically,
I am all geared up to begin teaching a choice based curriculum. I have 6
centers in my room: drawing, painting, sculpture, collage, printmaking and
textiles. I have placed a box with information and ideas on each table along with the
basic supplies. In the center of my room I have created an "art library",
books I have collected to help them further their quest for information when
trying to come up with their initial idea. Also, for the first time, I have set up
my computer with bookmarks so they can access the internet to also further
their search.
My room looks gorgeous and I was really surprised at how "less" I needed in
the way of supplies. For so long now I have run on the idea that I had to have
30 pairs of scissors....
Does anyone have anything to add that I might be forgetting?
Happy School Daze to all of you!!
