Subject: Site Specific Sculpture - Japan - link to photos

Site -specific sculpture comes up from time to time on Getty list. I have
looked at many of the 50 artists that are shown on Universes-in Universe
Truly some interesting work. I don't know how long this work will be on the
site - I imagine it will be on for sometime after the Triennial:
Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennial 2003

The 2nd Echigo-Tsumari Triennial aims to continue the great success of
the first Edition in 2000. This time, 157 artists and groups from 23
countries have been invited to create works at more than 50 locations in the
countryside and in the cities and villages of the 762 kmē region

Here is the notice from Pat Binder:

Dear colleagues and friends,

the 2nd Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennial in Japan is still going on until
September 7th.

In cooperation with the organizers we have published a photo tour, which
shows artworks of about a third of the more than 150 participants. They
are primarily site-specific works in the landscape in a rural region of
762 km2.

2nd Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennial takes place under the general direction
of Fram Kitagawa. Art advisors are: Hou Hanru, Rosa Martinez, Tom
Finkelpearl, Yusuke Nakahara.

Best regards,
Pat Binder and Gerhard Haupt
