Yes, I know I am bragging....but this IS an excellent lesson plan - and is
adaptable to many different themes - self - portraits, family, artists
research - whatever. My objective was Heroes (character traits) - and
interdisciplinary with social studies - Heroes Triptychs:

Students also had to think of positive and negative impact. (I told my
opinions of negative impact of the Renaissance explorers I put on the
outside of my triptych).
This was a lesson that was jam packed with technology - mixed media. You can
simplify it - It was my choice to make it a "treasure" for the kids. This
was a project I wanted them to save.
I just finished writing out all of this for your benefit - I'll eventually
put better images of my project (no sun yesterday) on the plan. I do a few
student images for the two years I did this - but have to find the disks or
numerous jpeg images - the labeled images were on my computer at school.).
It was Dawn Stienecker who inspired me to get this plan on the site -
Initially, I was just going to put it in as an "idea" as an extension to her
Diptych lesson - then I just got carried away (smile).
I have a one page lesson plan for the triptychs for anyone who asks. I have
one page plans for many of my lessons (Word - before I started putting them
on my site).
I tried to put the one page lesson in the Files for Sharing folder - but my
computer just didn't want to do that today.
