A math teacher in my building wears 2" or 2 1/2" high heels every day! The
spike heel kind! We have concrete floors and she stands up most of the time.
My feet would not be able to handle that! I bought two pairs of shoes in a
"Mary Jane" (?) style a couple years ago--you know, rounded toe and a strap
going across the top. I went to an old fashioned shoe store where they actually
measure your feet! One pair is by Barefoot Freedom and another by Munro
American. They were over a hundred dollars a pair, but they show no sign of
wearing out! This is year #3 that I will be using them. They aren't really
glamorous, but they sure are comfortable!
I also like the SAS shoes. For those of you who cannot find them, try the
better quality independent shoe stores.
Just curious--how long do some of you hold on to your clothes? Do any of you
wear the same outfit for a few years? Do you care if students recognize
outfits from a couple years ago?
We really don't have a dress code for teachers, but we can only wear jeans on
payday. I tend to wear a lot of dresses and skirts. I am nearly 5'10" tall
and finding pants that are long enough has always been a problem! (Capris end
up looking like walking shorts on me!)
