wire/hose sculpture

Hello,
I keep delving into the artsednet archives and finding so many mentions of
the famous wire/hose sculpture project. It does look pretty cool. Where did
it originally come from? Can those who've done it, tell me how well it goes
over with the students? I would like to try it with either 7th or 8th this
year. Also, since this is my first year, how tough is this one to pull off
successfully?
