Hi, this is a very worthwhile endeavor. Dr. Heidi Hayes Jacobs is one of
the leaders in this field. While she has a web site,the following is a
link in the ASCD web site from her book that gives some basics to mapping:

The biggest obstacle is getting all teachers on board.
