I have to say, because I teach elementary age students, even though we had
students in our school who lost parents, uncles and aunts, I will not be
doing anything within my curriculum to commemorate this day. I have no doubt
as a school community we will do something (we had a candelight service a few
days after last September). As an adult who was deeply affected I will
personally reflect and remember and pay my respects. But my students are so
young, I don't know if I am far enough removed emotionally to teach a lesson
to them. To have the kind of conversations that a lesson would require. I
am still just too upset by what happened.
