A recommendation/Art New England

Date: Sun Aug 11 2002 - 16:57:29 PDT

To my fellow artists:
Ahhhhhh, having just returned from an absolutely amazing week in Bennington,
Vermont at Art New England, I want to recommend this incredible experience!
I took a course with a wonderful painting professor and professional artist,
Barbara Grad, who teaches at Mass. College of Art. It was experimental
painting in water media. Wow!! I was immersed in painting and met fantastic
people who "spoke my language"- the conversing that only those who create art
can understand. There were many other strands going on at the same time from
book making to high/low firing, many more. I feel I have grown personally as
an artist from this adventure. I was shown how a professional painter works,
comes up with ideas, etc. as the class was all about process.

The week-long experience (workshops are run weekly all summer) takes place on
the campus of Bennington College in breathlessly magnificent surroundings-
navy/royal blue mountains, chartreuse grasses, periwinkle skies with
pink/purple/white clouds that touch the mountaintops. There were people from
all over the country who attended- even as far away as California.

Those of you that "know" me through this list, know that I am always trying
to grab at exciting and valuable opportunities to grow personally and
professionally, so I have a broad frame of reference when I recommend Art New
England . This one is the best yet- it truly has changed my life in many
