elements and principles

I tell the kids the elements are the ART Parts...just like there are parts of speech or parts to a sentence or an equation etc... parts to an engine....
then the principles are how to put the parts together..."doesn't do much good to have all the parts and not know what to do with them!"
They seem to "get it"!
