Especially for Native American projects , I like to use real feathers. I
collect them over the year when I'm at the lake beach. Mostly sea gull
feathers. I heard that they can carry germs. I've tried washing them in soapy
water but it takes the oil and wonderful shape out of the feather. My
girlfriend said that you can put them in the microwave and kill off the
germs. Has anyone heard of this or done this! Many thanks! Gail
