Support VH-1 Save the Music - for free!

    Philadelphia-based musical group Second Story is putting its money where
    its mouth is. Beginning in August, the all-original quintet is donating
    half of its “Payback for Playback” earnings from Mp3.com to VH-1's Save the
    Music Campaign.

    The members of the band cite the impact their past music educators have had
    on their development as the prime reason for the commitment.

    “The teachers we’ve had over the years are among the biggest influences
    that inspired us to take up music,” said Second Story bassist Mark
    Gollihur, whose own mother is a music teacher in a public high-school. “We
    simply can’t stand by and watch as some districts actually cut their music
    programs altogether.” Not coincidentally, both Mark and keyboard player
    John Lewis are employees of GVOX, a music software company who recently
    unveiled the revolutionary NotationStation.net, a FREE web-enabled tool for

    Through MP3.com’s “Payback for Playback” promotion, bands earn money based
    upon the traffic to their hosted sites, total number of downloads, and
    other related factors. The amount of money Second Story stands to raise
    depends wholly on the traffic to their Mp3.com site. Unique downloads and
    plays are tallied daily and figure into their “Payback” total, which is
    prominently posted on the Mp3.com website. Each quarter, Mp3.com will cut
    the band a check for their total, at which point the band will donate half
    to the Save the Music Foundation.

    To help increase the Second Story donation, interested parties need only
    visit the band’s site at Mp3.com and listen as many of the band’s songs as
    they wish. There is no cost to the listener, and each daily unique “listen”
    adds to the donation.
