I like doing magazine colle's with kids in elementary school....they
build a collage picture using magazine pictures as the different colors
and textures. For example, a child creating a collage picture of a flower
in a vase might do the following: cut out a bowl of ravioli for the
blossoms, palm trees for the leaves, a car for the vase, and a mountain
range for the table the vase sits on. They can do the background too, but
this takes far more time because it has to go down first....but I've seen
kids use "hair" from models cut into pieces that just look like tweedie
textures and cover the background with this.

Anotehr example I remember was a little guy who created a big snarly lion
cutting out models' hair to build the fur of the lion.

It takes on a surreal approach.
