My weekend was spent hugging my 15 year old daughter and answering a lot of
her questions. A student in her school was arrested on Friday because he had
a list of 26 students named.....you can guess the rest. School was "optional"
and of course she came home. A good friend's name was on the list, she is a
"jock" and all this is a bit much for a 15 year old even though "nothing"
happened.

I am hopeful that NEA will offer some counseling and/or support to the
teachers that were in school April 20th. I know I would be hurting and in
great need of sharing.

My life, my family and my heart have been touched by this tragedy. My
heartfelt prayers to those in Colorado so closely touched by this, our
nation, and the world.

I have never allowed students to create (represent) guns or weapons in the
art room. I explain that the art room is a place to create and CONSTRUCT
things and that weapons are DESTRUCTIVE.
