I think I am misunderstood concerning the amont of mail I have recieved on
restricting my students artwork. I say to them no sex, drugs, or
violence/racism. I feel in my old bones that I am right to tell them that
these things are not acceptable in the classroom. What they, or I myself do
with sex and drugs on our own time is a matter of personal preference. >>

You are absolutely right. We are ALL different people, and different
teachers. The purpose of the listserv is to SHARE our methods and
interpretations. Didn't we somewhat resolve the Nudity issue (with regard to
Art History slides) with something like "what the teacher can comfortably
teach and show, he/she should?" If you are comfortable with your classroom
rules regarding the violence or guns, by all mean, stay your course! We all
teach in different areas of the country (world) with different levels of
violence out on our streets. Do not let anyone judge you or knock you down
for it! Please, please people, let's be careful. I am getting so
discouraged with all these personal attacks.
