For those of you who are interested in teaching meaningful art and music
connections, the spring/summer newsletter of the North Texas Institute for
Educators on the Visual Arts will focus upon this topic.

Included in the newsletter are practical classroom activities based upon the
National Standards for both Art and Music, a timeline (suitable for
duplication) with a variety of accompanying timeline activities, and a page
written for students (as suitable for suplication). "The Sources of Country
Music", the last mural completed by Thomas Hart Benton, is the featured
artwork, with background information about the art and artist as well as a
lesson summary built around the image.

The newsletter will be posted to our website
<A HREF="http://www.art.unt.edu/ntieva/">NTIEVA HomePage</A> later this
summer.

A commercial product you might wish to consider is Crystal Productions'
Take-5 study print series, "Interdisciplinary Connections: Art and Music".
The set includes five posters and a teacher resource guide complete with
background information about each art image and the artists who made them, in
addition to appropriate and meaningful art and music activities.
