I am having a difficult time even putting thoughts into words. This is
my community. I do not teach at Columbine but have children and taught
children here that have friends and family affected. Our schools have
taught Peer Conflict Resolution Strategies and Tolerance programs. If
you are struggling with what to learn or verbalize about this take time
to look into the faces of the children it's all there. As a kid I
attended Kent State University and did not witness the shootings there
but did watch classmates on the hill die waiting for help to come. It is
unforgivable that children should ever go through this but they do
whether in our communities or in another part of the world. Strength
comes from caring. My children and their friends have lost a piece of
their youth, the believe that everything will be okay, youth is
invincible, sometimes you are alone.
