Marc, the bombing of the Murrah Federal building in Oklahoma City was the
morning of April 19. MSNBC is a day off. However, we here in OKC have noted
the close dates of Waco, the bombing, and now Colorado. That Denver was the
location of McVeigh and Nichols' trials has also been a topic of uneasy
conversation. The 19th is
a day of memorial for us in OKC. A day to glance across the office at a
survivor and remember and be extra grateful they're still here.
It baffled me when people would say McVeigh didn't "look" like a killer, so
clean-cut and wholesome. That the school in CO was "state of the art" and
"middle class" and the killers "looked nice". What does that tell us about
ourselves and the superficial qualities we think make a good life and good
people (and a good school)?
