re: weaving

Leah,
Do you have any large cardboard or matboard pieces? They
could do group weavings. Set one up for each grouping of
students (mine are at 7 tables in the room) and each class works
on it as they are finished. The finished pieces are then
donated to the school or hung in a public place, etc. Talk
about pride in their work! It is a great 5th grade graduating
project to leave behind.

Also, if you have a kiln, you could do a tile mural. Locally we
have bisque tiles at about $25 for 100 4 3/8" x4 3/8" tiles. We
use homemade glazes and I fire them and put them up over the
summer. Since I am at a new school this year, we are starting a
row of tiles that will go around the entire building like a
wallpaper border (eventually), done by each 5th grade class.
