Thank you to Lily, Linda, Terry also:
I didn't have a great lesson with my third graders today, so I
switched them to do gesture drawing which is what my second graders are
doing. I got great results from the third graders, some of them are bulletin
board display pieces. I did the drawing in the air, I did a demonstration of
gesture drawing, I showed them a Degas "The Dancers" done in white chalk and
charcoal. (Found in the Smithsonian magazine about stolen art work now at the
Hermitage Museum in Leningrad.) I had them do one single gesture drawing of a
model, three gesture drawings of a group holding props, and the last four
group gesture drawings spelling the word LOVE. We had a blast and the time
went by so fast.
Thanks for a good Spring wake-up lesson.
