MaryB, this listserve is simply designed to promote communication among
middle school art teachers. There aren't so many of us, especially in
smaller districts, and I thought this would give us the chance to reduce
teacher isolation, problem solve, brainstorm and share our thinking. It
seemed best to focus on this age group because there's alot available to
early education, but our age group tends to be overlooked or lumped into the
lower or upper grade groupings. That's convenient, but middle school
students have their own special needs and developmental stages that don't
necessarily fit into elementary or high school. The more we share, the more
effective we might become. That's pretty much the gist of it. It will be
what it becomes, hopefully helpful to us all, and perhaps a friendship link.
I hope that clarifies the purpose for you. Join us? Linda K. in Iowa
