In response to the modified block scheduling, I have the following
information. I loved it. It is great for studio classes and the
students felt they had more time to work on projects. As far as
students that are mainstreamed, if they understand and know that the
class structure requires use of time, they can adjust. They usually fall
in line with the normal students. Many of my best students are those
that were and still are mainstreamed, they want a structured class. I
would not be telling the whole truth if I did not mention that you do on
occassion have problems with those that can not keep on task for times
longer than 30 minutes. If the district is one that works with teachers
in these situations, there are solutions. Any questions you may have,
email me at jab.
