Today, the California Senate Public Employees and Retirement committee.
unanimously passed two CTA - sponsored bills to increase STRS pensions.
SB 39 (Baca) would double the new career factor for three decades of service.
Passed, 3-0 (AYES: Baca, Karnette, Ortiz. ABSTAIN: Lewis)
SB 833 (Ortiz) to make last year's benefits retroactive to '98 retirees,
passed 4-0, with all Dems and Lewis voting AYE.
Both bills now move to the next committee, Sen. Appropriations, chaired by
Sen. Pat Johnston of Stockton-Sacramento.
