Hi all:
I'm responding to the thread about illustrating lines of music. My son
just sent me the book: i live in music (non caps is her spelling). The
paintings are by Romare Bearden, and the poem is by Ntozake Shage.
A one line quotation from the book: "i got 15 trumpets where other women
got hips," made me smile and think -- you go girl! And the accompanying
Bearden painting is equally neat.
I really have no musical abilities myself, but my son (who does) felt this
book captures mood of the blues. He intially bought the book for himself
at a discount book store for $5. The one he sent to me cost him $20 in a
museum gift shop! Keep your eyes open for the bargain one :)
