Remember when we had a thread of the good fun moments we have had in our
classes? I must add to that thread!

The last week has been very rough with nudggey kids all through the school.
Teachers have been mumbling things like "full moon" "hormones" "spring
fever" "need another vacation" "rain day behavior and it isn't even
raining!" You get the setting.

My Friday rainy day 5th grade was really silly last art so I put on my best
middle school teacher attitude and kept the lid on! I was handing out papers
and several watercolors had no name. When I held up one for the owner to
claim, argument broke out as they yelled back and forth," That's yours!" "No
it's not!" on and on! I put an immediate stop to this! "This is
unacceptable. The only voice I want to hear will say, It's mine, Mrs.
Henneborn. Understood?"

They became quiet and attentive and I continued handing out paintings.
"Another no name!" I held it up and heard a loud chorus from the entire
class, "It's mine, Mrs. Henneborn."

End of class discipline --- None of us could stop laughing long enough to
hand out the rest of the pictures. Every spring I am reminded why I don't
teach middle school anymore!
