re: viruses & attachments

My general rule is if I have asked someone for something as an
attachment, I assume it is safe. Also, if someone requests info from
the list, and I have it as an attachment, I will send them a personal
email asking if they want me to send it, along with the format in which
it will come (like word 97, excel, etc). I have not had a problem with
doing it this way (knock on wood) but I did once get the attachment and
an extra email with Happy99.exe on it, but I knew to delete that one.

A general rule of thumb is that anything that has .exe on it should not
be opened. You cannot get a virus from opening a word or text document,
according to my husband the computer geek.
