I feel that this listserve is a family of friends, so I hope you mind my
wanting to share some exciting but non-art news with you all. One of my
"other hats" is teaching Advanced Placement Macroeconomics. The Federal
Reserve Bank in Los Angeles held a West Coast FedChallenge competition for
the first time today. This is a contest that has been held for several
years on the East Coast - a team of 5 students have to research and put
together a 15-minute presentation that advised the Fed whether it should
raise or lower interest rates or keep them the same. Then there is a 10
minutesQ&A from the judges, who are all professional economists.

My team from North Hollywood High School competed today in downtown LA and
WE WON! I am so excited for them - they worked so hard. Now we get to
represent the LA Fed in Washington D.C at the end of the month and compete
against 8 other teams from around the country.

Thank you for letting me share my excitement with you. Hope no one was
offended that I went off-topic.
