I've been watching the list 0for some explanation of the changes at the
Getty alluded to by Lani Duke during her speech at the NAEA conference.
My limited understanding of the situation is that the Getty Education
Institute for the Arts was dissolved following the retirement of the
former CEO of the Getty Trust. The new CEO and the directors will
redirect the funds formerly allocated to the Education Institute into
their priority endeavors of the museum and art historic preservation.
Happily, according to announcements made at the Getty reception,
ArtsEdNet has been given more funding to expand services to art
educators. However, art education research grants funded by the Getty
appear to be a thing of the past. I would like to know more about the
history of the Education Institute and about why the Foundation decided
to dissolve it. Does anyone out there know where such information can be
obtained?
