A little while ago someone asked about using Illustrators to teach
about art. I just came across a good begining source. "Art Projects
Plus!: Introducing Art Form, Media, and Technique with Children's
Picture books" ISBN 1-56822-525-3 by R. Howard Blount, Jr. & Martha
Venning Web. The book matches different techniques with illustrators who
use them and has instructions for activities. You will still have to
research (or better have the children research) to find out about the
illustrator and his/her life. This book is probably more useful to
elementary classroom teacher looking to introduce more art to their
classroom, than art teachers who already have active classes.
