A great book on watercolor is "Watercolor Bold & Free", 64 experimental ideas
and techniques in watercolor, by Lawrence C. Goldsmith, ISBN 0-8230-5654-6.

BTW, clay suffers the same pricing problems. I am a ceramic artist
(nonfunctional sculptural) and am represented in a gallery hanging next to
paintings priced in the thousands, and my ceramic pieces of similar size are
in the hundreds. I think it has something to do with the "fine art/craft"
argument that has gone on in the art world for centuries. Go figure.
