I once challenged a class of unmotivated high school students to pick a
partner and construct something that would keep a marble in motion for
10 seconds. They could use any scrap materials they could come up with.
Not only did they do it, one group even for 30 seconds, but their foam
core board, cardboard, wire and plastic contraptions were neat 3-D
sculptural forms too. Lots of clever problem solving occurred.
