What is wrong with a student using resources found through the Internet in
order
to research a topic. If it was one of us trying to find out information it
would be
given without any criticism. My mentor teacher and I encourage children to
make use of their computers as most of them have access to one. As long as
they
write the information in their own words, avoiding plagiarism, then it's a
perfectly
valid vehicle for learning.

Maybe these students are finding it tough to narrow down their research on the
Internet and are looking for some clear and concise info.
I have the same problem sometimes.
