After almost a full year of constant struggle with one 8th grade class,
I finally came up with a lesson they not only enjoyed but want more of.
Using recycled materials (art leftovers and anything else) they were to
create a "Mousetrap" type invention. They started with a cardboard base
and attached a cardboard barrier across the middle. In a nutshell the
problem was to set a marble on one side of the barrier, 4 sequential
things happen, and then a (dried-up) marker set up on end will be
knocked over on the other side of the barrier. Now they want more
creativity lessons like this. Any ideas? or possibilities? At this time
of year my brain is losing steam.
