Yeah, I know alot about burnout--I've taught for 23 years and my last two were successful, frenetic, overwhelming, and exhausting--and I just was too hard an act for me to follow. I NEVER thought in my wildest dreams that I'd wake up one morning (Apr. 17 of last year) and just find it impossible to go on. Even the thought of driving to school was Everest. If you or someone you know is at the burnout stage, you need to acquaint yourself with some info one the physical and psychological aspects of it, and you also need to know that there is a veritable mountain of ignorance about burnout out there, not only by your peers, but also by health care workers-doctors, psychologists, psychiatrists, etc. I was amazed that their responses, which ranged from disbelief (was I faking this), to blaming my parents for what was obviously their poor parenting. Please respond if you want info from someone who's been there.
