In your situation you have to be creative--here's my suggestion: get a
video of Van Gogh's paintings to play on a small monitor you've mounted
about 5 ft up the wall, and rope off an area about 6 ft back from the
wall for you to stand behind.. Then bring your tape deck to the busiest
mall in Hong Kong and record the hubub for about half an hour. Place
your tape deck just behind where you'll be standing. Now get 2 TV's
--tune 1 TV to a shopping channel, the other to some artalk (or any
other talking head culture-type show)--and place them on either side of
your viewing location. Now turn on your monitor with the Van Gogh
program, your tape deck with the Hong Kong hubub, the shopping channel
TV, the culture bug TV--- and that's it! A little tweaking of your
imagination--and you're there!

Best wishes,
