My longtime friend and adult art teacher, Lucille Sisson, decorates her
studio with her own works interspersed with wonderful found objects, art
cartoons (a la New Yorker, but sometimes Peanuts), and quotes which she's
printed or painted on old mat board scraps. When I took a tour of 3rd
graders there several years ago, they badgered her out of more scraps to
take back to class and create their own. I enjoyed the way they
experimented with lettering styles and placement, borders. I hope you quote
collectors have some of these around your room for students to ponder.
Sometimes they take a while to sink in.
