O.K. Ages for Paper Mache

Dear ArtsEdNetters,

Thanks again to everyone who responded to my
"what do art teachers do over the summer" letter.
I will be "working" (unpaid) with a small (8-10)
group of girls on puppet making this summer. Some
of them may be as young as first grade. I had
planned to make some paper mache puppet heads with
them, but now I wonder if the littlest kids can
handle it. I am still uncertain as to the exact
age makeup of the class, and probably will be
right up to the last minute. Since it will be
such a small group, and of mixed ages, do you
think I could do it, or should I just do something
else so that they don't become frustrated?
What is your vast experience on this matter?
Thanks.

Sincerely,

Rachel
