The Meadows Museum in Dallas, TX invites you and your students to look and learn
through the eyes of Spanish Masters. These teaching materials will enable you
to incorporate the history of Spain and its cultural achievements in the arts,
specifically painting and sculpture. The art and artists represented in this
packet span over five hundred years of Spanish culture and European influence.

The packet has been designed and developed as a complement to the existing
educational programs of the Meadows Museum:

People corresponds to the Learning to Look tour for grades K-4.
Lenses of Interpretation and Symbols relate to the Overview of Spanish Art
recommended for grades 4-12.
Masters incorporates the artists based on the Spanish Masters tour for grades

The materials may be incorporated as both pre and post visit materials. In the
packet you will find historical information about the art and artists as well as
suggested discussion questions and activities. We encourage you to apply the
information and ideas to existing units of instruction and teaching strategies.
Each unit and tour are age-appropriate and may be adapted for older or younger

While we realize that not every class can make the trip to the museum, it is our
intention and hope that this packet will not replace the museum experience. We
hope it will serve as a catalyst for future adventures and educational endeavors
both in the classroom and in the museum.
