Holiday art in my classroom is always an application of skills learned
in other activities.
Right now I am watching Third Graders create beautiful gigantic Eggs
applying the knowledge of symmetry and repeating patterns they just used
in making masks related to the Sepic River people of New Guinea. If we
have time, the students will cut doors in the eggs (like an advent
calendar) to find the easter bunny, with written clues (classroom
teachers appreciate the use of language skills.
Guess my basic philosophy is "try to find connections".
