It's me again. I appreciate all of the
responses I have received so far, and although
some of them have been posted privately, they all
pretty much consist of summer school, camps,
private lessons and making the money stretch.
Some other suggestions have been grantwriting,
gardening and an avoidance of places with a high
cost of living (cities).
Is there anything else that you do? Do any
of you work specifically with the elderly over the
summer? Do any of you write/illustrate children's
books? Do you work for yourselves in any way? I
understand that's the only way to really make any
real income, or so my mother says.
Am I wrong in my estimation of teacher
salaries? From the Florida Dept. of Education
website, I found that beginning teacher's salaries
in Florida districts usually fall in the
$20-$24,000 range with up to $28,000 for
Dade/Broward. I have little interest in moving to
Miami, but I am keenly interested in the Atlanta
area. Does anyone have any information, anecdotal
or otherwise, about any of this?
Again, I really do appreciate anything you
take or have taken the time to send me.
