Hi Carol,
While looking in the library for yet more projects to do...I came across a
series of books that gave the stories of artists, like Picasso and Van
Gogh, in childrens terms. In the stories it described some of the
techniques the artists used. So, what I did was read one of the stories at
the begining of class and then do a project based on one of the techniques
the artist used. For example: After we read the story on Picasso, I had
them paint a picture of someone in the room, then cut it up into
cubes(squares) and rearrange it on another peice of paper- to create a
"cubist" painting. They really enjoyed talking about the results,
especially since the pictures were of each other.
