Hi, Jen. The non coloring books that I have are called ANTI COLORING BOOKS.
They are published by Holt, Rinehart and Winston, New York. Susan Striker
is the artist. I think there are now five different books. I used them to
stimulate writing rather than to stimulate art.
So--here's and example--there's an image of a pair of feet sticking out from
covers at the end of a bed. The dream bubble takes up the entire page, and
the text says 'DRAW THE WORST NIGHTMARE YOU EVER HAD.
Dover does still publish wonderful books on Celtic designs and Medieval
alphabet from the illumined manuscripts. I also used these for writing prompts.
