Dear Carmen and Confused-
I do not teach elementary art, but I work with an exceptional elem. art
teacher who is a strong supporter of DBAE. The lessons she teaches at the 1-5
level last 4-8 class periods, and even the K kids often spend 3-4 classes on
a single project. She includes elements of all 4 disciplines in every lesson,
but not every class. You might want to order the Getty videos on DBAE. They
cover all the disciplines with examples from all grade levels. I bought the
tapes (very reasonable) for my student teachers and find them very helpful.
For info on a user-friendly critique process which can be used as early as
grade 2 and maybe before, if modified, check the Artsednet archives for an
earlier discussion of PQP (Praise, Question, Propose). If you can't find
anything, feel free to email me for more info. Good luck!
