Carmen, yes, it would be difficult to hold the attention of the students for
a 40 minute period by trying to cover all four areas of the DBAE steps. My
lessons usually always take at least two, usually more, sessions to complete.
I try to introduce the lesson with some Art History and Aesthetics. I try
to spend the majority of the time on actual Studio Production and working out
problems that arise, then finish with Art Critiques of students' work. Many
times we critique during the production time as well as during the time we
spend on Art History. I use large art reproductions and art videos a lot as
visuals to introduce lessons. Other suggestions would be most helpful.
