I teach K-6 art in a very unusual situation. I teach at two schools,
each school averaging about 550 students. I spend three days at one
school while my teaching assistant spends the same three days at the
other school, we then switch schools for three more days, etc...
My problem is that my assistant has no art training or background
and only accomplishes what I specifically write down for her to do. I
end up making sub plans for three days, every three days. I start a
lesson and she is unable to complete it. I have gone as far as to create
my own instructional videos to provide consistency for my students, but
I am still so very discouraged. I seem to be teaching two positions at
the same time and I am worn out!
If anyone is in a similar situation or has any helpful ideas, I
would be thankful.
